Amendment

An amendment is a product incorporated into the soil aimed at improving its chemical, physical, and biological properties. Soil amendment is a more ecological solution that could be extremely beneficial for your soil and, consequently, for your tree. However, it must be used correctly, during the period recommended by the expert and according to the estimate.

We primarily use the drilling method with an air excavator, allowing us to deliver the amendment directly to the fine roots to maximize the benefits for your trees. Soil amendment is also very beneficial for lawns.

Granular organic fertilizer

To properly identify the problem, we must, if necessary, perform a soil analysis. This analysis will allow us to determine the exact composition of your soil and thus carry out the best possible intervention.

An unbalanced soil can be extremely harmful to your plants. It only takes a single disrupted component to compromise the entire function of the chain.

Types of amendments

Types of amendments are numerous and must be chosen wisely to achieve optimal results. An incorrect prescription can be just as harmful as leaving the soil to itself, which is why amendments must be prescribed by an expert with an analysis or data in hand.

Regarding the varieties of amendments we use, here are the main ones :

  • composts;
  • manures;
  • liming products;
  • sulfates.

We prefer offering soil amendment over fertilization for several reasons. Fertilization acts more in the short term and risks creating a dependency in the treated vegetation. Amendment allows for addressing the initial problem so that the soil can eventually become self-sufficient and require less treatment. Fertilization can also be very toxic to the environment when leaching into groundwater occurs.

Issues to watch for

Certain issues frequently arise during urban soil analysis. The depletion of urban soils is a real problem that must be taken seriously. Here are some examples of harmful elements that should be monitored :

  • Construction without a protection plan;
  • Deicing salt;
  • Chemical contamination;
  • Lack of organic matter due to the removal of leaves, twigs, and other natural elements;
  • Excessive or inadequate fertilization.
