Pneumatic excavation

Pneumatic excavation consists of excavating the ground around the tree while minimizing damage to the tree's root system.

The root system, often overlooked, is the most important organ of a tree. Any damage to the roots will limit the tree's ability to feed itself and, by extension, cause its premature degradation. Root damage can also lead to the decay of the root system and significantly increase the risk of uprooting.

Plan your work around the roots

Airspade pneumatic excavator

Using our "Airspade" pneumatic excavator, we can expose a tree's roots without damaging them and identify their location. Once the roots are exposed, it becomes possible to identify the ideal spot for your infrastructure projects, such as:

  • A swimming pool
  • A shed
  • A concrete slab

In the event that work must absolutely be done in a specific location, it will be possible to perform root pruning by removing the roots located at the work site, thereby limiting the damage that a traditional method could cause.

Installing components through roots

Trench created using an Airspade to run pipes

In the event that your project requires the installation of components that must pass through the root system, it is possible to excavate using the "Airspade" and create a trench through the tree's roots. This makes it possible to complete your projects while minimizing damage to the root system.

Here are some examples:

  • Piping;
  • Electrical wiring;
  • Retaining walls, etc.

Infrastructure access

Searching for a crack in a foundation

It is also possible to access your underground components using our pneumatic excavator.

  • Electrical wires
  • Piping
  • Foundation / Footings

Once your infrastructure is unearthed, we can move or cut the roots, giving you access to the pipes and thus protecting your trees as well as your installations.
