- The tree causes damage to public or private property or interferes with the maintenance of public equipment;
- The tree must necessarily be cut for the realization of a construction or landscaping project authorized by the municipality's bylaws;
- The tree is cut due to poor location.
Anyone who commits an offense by cutting a tree illegally on the territory of the municipality of McMasterville is liable to a minimum fine of $500, plus additional costs based on the lot area.
Ash Tree Removal
The certificate of authorization is free of charge when it concerns cutting an ash tree in the Town of McMasterville.
The ideal period for cutting ash trees is from October 1st to March 15th since the emerald ash borer is dormant during this time. The insect is in hibernation during this period, which considerably reduces the risks of spreading the emerald ash borer.
For more information regarding the regulations on ash cutting, we suggest you contact the Urban Planning and Sustainable Development Department of the Town of McMasterville directly at 450 467-3580.
